FOXTON LOCKS RIDE

Sunday 25th July 2010

Normal meet at Buttercross this time but a new backdrop with The George Hotel now being fully refurbished. Some members as they arrived were tempted to go inside for breakfast but managed to resist although the idea of returning for Sunday lunch did appeal.

We gave it an extra 15minutes to allow any late arrivals and then set off after the chairman had consulted the map.

The first stop was Uppingham for tea and bacon bap. It was obviously a good day for getting the bike out as there was a steady stream of motorcycles pass by as we stopped.

Next stop was Foxton Locks and we managed to park up at the bottom of the hill which saved a walk. Tea and cake was the next move although cake choice was rather disappointing. The group then split up with some heading back and the rest of us went for a look at the narrow boats negotiate the locks.

Once the tourist trip was completed we set off for home.
