Lincolnshire Ride

Saturday 26th September.

The ride was planned and the weather fine but overcast. Bikes and pillions met up in Queen Street due to the fair being in town.

We set off just after 9.30am and had only got as far as North Bank when we had to make a detour due to work being carried out on the road and it was closed. It made no real difference and we carried on heading north.

The first stop some 40 miles later and it was time for breakfast at Mums Cafe.  I do believe everybody had a good breakfast and spare toast soon found a home with Terry. Whilst at the cafe we found a new recruit with an interest in motorcycles but we may have to wait for his membership as I suspect he was about two years of age.

Breakfast over and we set off again heading for Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre. Dave continued to head the group and he stopped off at the home of Memorial Flight so we could have a quick look. Did manage to get a glimpse of the spitfire parked outside.

As we arrived at the Aviation Centre the sun was out and we then spent some time looking round the museum. A Lancaster aircraft was parked on the runway, only disappointing  fact was that it was not going to run during the day as there was some evening event planned. There was still plenty to see and certainly provoked some thoughts. Time for tea and cake before we moved on.

Next stop was the Petwood Hotel at Woodhall Spa. Once we turned into the driveway it was rather impressive and we found the car park at the rear. The hotel was used in the  1940's by  the crews of the Dambusters. The hotel looked rather busy with a wedding in process and a number of apparent guests playing croquet on the lawn. After a short break and me engaging mouth before brain we moved on.

A stop on the way home was in order and we found a coffee shop which once inside we found was full of chocolate. A first class cup of tea and purchase of a couple of chocolate motorcycles later we headed for home.

An excellent ride out and thanks from all to Sue for sorting this one out.
